Week 13- Ruffian Manicure

I am catching up, but I have to do extra posts because I won't be here during Spring break.

I was not confident about this manicure, I have shaky hands, so I I only did it on the ring finger.


Here we have from left to right: Finger Paints:Sketch N Etch, and Cerulean Seascape.

I painted all my nails, except my ring finger, with Sketch N Etch. I painted my ring finger with Cerulean Seascape, and after it dried with Sketch N Etch.


Also I don't know what is wrong with my nails. I have another crack forming on my left thumb nail, this one is also over the nail bed. Hopefully it will grow out before it fully cracks. I wonder if the cracks are happening because I am dieting? I don't know, but I am taking extra calcium now and hopefully that will help.

Week 3- Colorblock manicure

So, I wasn't sure what a colorblock manicure was, I had to look it up.

Here are the polishes that I used:

From left to right is: Finger Paints: Sketch N Etch, Cerulean Seascape, Art You Wondering, and Sally Hansen Super Shine.

First I painted my nails with Sketch N Etch and my ring finger with Art You Wondering and a layer of top coat:


And then I taped down all my fingers, except my ring finger:


And then I painted on Cerulean Seascape:


Took the tape off carefully:


I forgot to take pictures of putting down Art You Wondering?, but it is the same process as putting on Cerulean Seascape.

Originally I was going to place the colors in this order: Sketch N Etch, Art You Wondering?, and last Cerulean Seascape. After I swatched Art you Wondering and realized that it was not opaque I switched the order with Cerulean Seascape and placed Art You Wondering? last. I'm not sure that I made the right decision. You can see that this manicure became thick, with all the layers it is no wonder (3 layers of Sketch N Etch, 1 top coat, 3 layers Cerulean Seascape, 1 top coat, 4 layers of Art You Wondering? and 2 layers of top coat= 14 layers of nail polish.)

Needless to say, this manicure didn't last long. I took it off right after taking the pictures, I just couldn't stand the thick/lumpy tips.

I don't think I would do this style of manicure again, it took a long time for me to do (3 days!) and I didn't like the lumpy tips.

Four Quick and Easy New Year's nail styles

I wanted to show you four quick and easy nail styles for New Year's Eve.



I will actually show you the worst photo first.




I thought that the blue (FingerPaints: Cerulean Seascape) had dried completely before I put down the tape, but apparently it hadn't!  And some of the blue polish lifted with the tape.  The idea of this nail is a blue polish with a glitter tip, just make sure that your blue polish is completely dry before you put down your tape!



This next nail has a blue polish tip with Northern Lights Hologram Gold Top Coat. For some reason the picture is huge!


I like the next one the best, it is three coats of Northern Lights Hologram Gold Top Coat and over the tip is painted with FingerPaints: Cerulean Seascape


I like this one the best, but I had washed dishes before taking this picture and the paint chipped, you can see it in the picture if you look for it.

The last one is three layers of FingerPaints: Cerulean Seascape and a couple of pulls of Northern Lights Hologram Gold Top Coat from the tip of the nails toward the bed of the nails.


If you want to do any of these styles for New Year's I would use a gold toned glitter, because I personally find an opalescent glitter reminds me more of winter. Another option would be to use a black polish and a silver glitter polish.

Oops. I almost forgot to post these pictures. The first few pictures I had to take indoors with a flash, so the colors aren't completely true, but I did get to take pictures of the final polish outdoors in the sunshine.

I love this color. If you are looking for a blue foil polish this is one to get. It goes on smooth and doesn't bubble as it dries.

I figured I'd start this new little corner for my blog.  I was going to call this my Friday purchase, and post on Friday, but then I figured if I call it weekend purchase I'm not committed to posting on any one day.
